2018 RYA Sailability Multiclass Champion Is Everitt

The 11th RYA Sailability Regatta event came to an end last weekend and the 2018 RYA Sailability Multiclass Champion of Champions was Mike Everitt. He is from the Frensham Pond Sailability and got the better of 80 sailors to claim the championship.

This is one of the biggest disability sailing events in the UK and sailors with all kinds of disabilities took part I the 11th edition of the RYA Sailability event. The sailors competed in 8 different boat classes. Many of the boats were remodeled to help the people with disability to take part in the event.

The event kicked off last Saturday with bright sunshine and scorching heat. The winds also were tricky to add dramas at the competition. The Multiclass regatta was a special class race as the British sailors taking part in the race took this race as their practice one to prepare for the debut at Invictus Games in Sydney in October 2018.

Joff McGill, the RYA Sailability Manager, was so happy with how the 11th edition of this event went. He said that there are so many things that are combined to make this beautiful event look outstanding and better every time. He is happy to have seen about80 sailors competing in the 8 different boat classes. He said that the camaraderie between the sailors is the highlight of the event. Joff said that many sailors look forward to this even as an annual get together of close friends and this has been going on for years now.

He is happy to see a lot of new faces turning up for the 11th RYA Sailability event and this is quite encouraging. The new sailors get good support from the experienced sailors as well as the volunteers. RYA is in charge of the Sailability program.
